The duration of Post Basic B.Sc., Nursing program under Vasantrao Naik College of Nursing is of 2 years, and the Nursing course includes classroom learning and practical sessions. Admission criteria for Post Basic B.Sc., Nursing

Duration 2 Years

The candidate must have:

Passed 12th class under 10+2 system of education or an equivalent examination from a recognised Board/University.
Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery from any institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.

Registration as the nurse, RN, RM (registered nurse, registered midwife) with any State Nursing Council.
A male nurse, trained before the implementation of the new integrated course besides being registered as a nurse with State Nurses Registration Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the following areas:
- O.T. Techniques
- Ophthalmic Nursing
- Leprosy Nursing
- TB Nursing
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Neurological and Neuro surgical Nursing
- Community Health Nursing
- Cancer Nursing
- Orthopedic Nursing
Candidates shall be medically fit.
Students shall be admitted once in a year.

Assessment

Theory

A minimum of 80% attendance in theory and practical/clinicals in each clinical area is essential before award of degree.
100 % attendance in practical / clinicals in each clinical area is essential before award of degree.
50% of minimum marks in each theory and practical paper separately is required for passing.
Examination in the ‘English’ subject of 1 st year P.B.B.Sc. Nursing course will be a college level Internal Assessment Qualifying Examination with minimum passing of 33% Marks. Student who fails or student who secures less than 33% Marks in the ‘English’ subject will not become eligible to appear in any subject of the University’s final examination. Marks of ‘English’ subject are to be send to the University along with Internal Assessment Marks of other subjects for inclusion in the Mark Sheet.
Examination in the ‘Introduction to Nursing Research and Statistics’ subject of 2 nd year P.B.B.Sc. Nursing course will be a college level Internal Assessment Qualifying Examination with minimum passing of 50% Marks. Student who fails or student who secure less than 50% Marks each i.e. independently in the Internal Assessment (Theory) Head and independently in the Internal Assessment (Practical) Head of the ‘Introduction to Nursing Research and Statistics’ subject will not become eligible to appear in any subject of the University’s final examination. Marks of ‘Introduction to Nursing Research and Statistics’ subject are to be send to the University along with Internal Assessment Marks of other subjects for inclusion in the Mark Sheet.
