The duration of Post Basic B.Sc., Nursing program under Vasantrao Naik College of Nursing is of 2 years, and the Nursing course includes classroom learning and practical sessions. Facilities are provided to students for clinical experiences under the guidance of faculty in various clinical and community settings. The university exams are held annually.  The programme prepares students to take independent decisions in nursing situations and play a major role in treating patients with care and compassion. The programme transmutes students to industry-trained professionals with a strong understanding of the philosophy objectives and responsibilities of nursing as a profession.

Completion of Post Basic B.Sc., Nursing course, graduates could have the following career opportunities:

Theory And Practical

  • Minimum 80% attendance in theory and practical/clinical areas is required for the degree.
  • 100% practical/clinical attendance in each clinical area is required.
  • Minimum 50% marks separately in each theory and practical paper is required to pass.
  • 1st Year English: Internal qualifying exam with minimum 33% marks is required.
  • 2nd Year Nursing Research & Statistics: Internal qualifying exam with minimum 50% marks separately in Theory and Practical is required.
  • Students failing the qualifying examinations are not eligible for the University final examination.

Admission Criteria for Post Basic BSC Nursing
  Duration: 2 Years

  • Passed 12th (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized Board/University.
  • GNM Diploma from an institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  • Valid RN/RM registration with any State Nursing Council.
  • Male nurses trained before the integrated course must have INC-approved equivalent training in an approved nursing specialty.
  • Candidates must be medically fit.
  • Admission: Once a year.
